Since the 1990s, CHOP has partnered with the Open Medical Institute in Salzburg, Austria to share clinical and leadership knowledge. This collaboration was established to foster the professional growth of colleagues around the globe and reduce brain drain of talented medical professionals. The relationship between CHOP and OMI continues to grow, with CHOP faculty facilitating eight week-long seminars per year.
Doctors from all over the world travel to Schloss Arenberg to learn from respected subject-matter experts and build relationships with their international colleagues. These CHOP-OMI seminars have educated thousands of fellows and built the foundations of many longstanding personal connections and professional networks.
