Advances in Multi-Disciplinary Care for Children with High-Risk Neuroblastoma

Please Note:

This course may contain imagery and/or video of surgical procedures.

In this lecture, we will cover the evolution of modern-era multi-modality therapy for children with the most common extra-cranial solid tumor of childhood. Survival rates for children with high-risk neuroblastoma have doubled in the past two decades, but this progress has come with the use of lengthy, complex therapy. Our team will discuss the current state of therapy for these patients as well as the remaining challenges in the areas of surgery, radiation, and medical therapy for children with high-risk disease. We will also discuss new directions in therapy and new ways of thinking about neuroblastoma.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Appreciate the advances made in the treatment of children with high risk neuroblastoma in recent years
  2. Identify the current challenges facing patients, families and providers during and after treatment
  3. Identify new opportunities to improve outcomes for children with this disease

Speakers:

This seminar focuses on oncology and was delivered at a virtual event titled, Advances in Multi-Disciplinary Care for Children with High-Risk Neuroblastoma, on March 19, 2021.
