This webinar will focus on topics requested via survey from primary care providers related to psychopharmacologic management in the primary care setting. We will provide an overview regarding management of pediatric depression/anxiety after first trial of SSRI, management of ADHD with non stimulant medications, in particular alpha agonist medications, and general management of antipsychotics. Additionally, there will be discussion of systemic challenges reported by our primary care providers regarding transitions of behavioral health care. This webinar will aim to provide general support and information regarding clinical circumstances such as: patient seeking behavioral health specialty care – needing bridging for medications, what to do when inheriting patients from psychiatric higher levels of care, when to consider referral to specialty care/psychiatric care and how to seek support for the circumstances in between within the CHOP system.
- Review general psychopharmacologic management of moderate/severe major depressive disorder, particularly regarding SSRIs and subsequent trials, scheduling follow up appointments, etc.
- Review general psychopharmacologic management of ADHD with non-stimulant options, including guanfacine and clonidine
- Review general psychopharmacologic management of antipsychotics
- Discuss how to address systematic gaps/challenges – i.e.: bridging medications, inheriting patients from a higher level of care, when to refer to specialty care, supports/consultation in CHOP behavioral health
