Kevin Osterhoudt, MD, MSCE, FAAP, FACMT, is an attending physician in the Division of Emergency Medicine and the medical director of the Poison Control Center at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and is professor of Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Osterhoudt is an Associate Fellow for the Center for Injury Prevention and Research at CHOP, and is an Associate Scholar in the Center for Global Health and a faculty member in the Community Outreach and Education Core of the Center of Excellence in Environmental Toxicology at Penn. He has co-authored over 100 journal articles and textbook chapters and serves on the editorial boards of Pediatric Emergency Care and Clinical Toxicology. Dr. Osterhoudt is a co-author of the AAP’s 2016 policy statement on preventing lead poisoning in children. He is also an internationally recognized clinical expert on childhood lead poisoning consulting on cases throughout the U.S. and in other countries such as Kosovo, Vietnam, and Mexico.
He has served nationally on the Board of Directors of the American College of Medical Toxicology, as the American Board of Pediatrics’ representative to the medical toxicology sub-board, and on the Executive Committee of the Council on Environmental Health of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is currently a member of the Executive Committee of the AAP’s Council on Injury, Violence, and Poisoning Prevention and a member of CHOP’s new PRCCEH. Dr. Osterhoudt’s academic interests include the clinical epidemiology and risk assessment of pediatric poisoning exposures, and methemoglobinemia disorders during infancy.
