Approach to Acute Malaria in Ghana

At the end of this session, students will be able to identify the features of uncomplicated and severe malaria, identify poor prognostic factors in severe malaria, choose the appropriate tests used to diagnose malaria and interpret it, outline the steps in management of uncomplicated and severe malaria, and outline key steps in prevention of malaria.

CHOP Global Medicine is pleased to partner with the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons to improve every aspect of medicine, including the training of specialist and subspecialist physicians who are equipped to address current and emerging health issues.

Established in 2003, the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons aims to continuously enhance health care delivery through ethical and technology-leveraged training to produce highly skilled specialist doctors who are committed to life-long learning, as well as promote research, health policy development, and advocacy to meet the healthcare needs of Ghana and the West African sub-region. The College has helped stem the brain drain of medical providers sponsored to complete their specialist training abroad by providing excellent specialist training in-country. As of 2022, the College has trained more than 1,200 graduates at the membership level (specialists) and more than 140 senior specialists (subspecialists) from Ghana and other West African countries.
